BOTOX® & Neuromodulators

Showing expressions of joy or sadness on our faces is a natural part of life, but sometimes frequent facial expressions can lead to expression lines, also called dynamic wrinkles. As we age, these dynamic wrinkles settle deeper into our skin, creating a tired or grumpy appearance. We can smooth these lines and restore a more youthful look with neuromodulators like Dysport®, XEOMIN®, Jeuveau®, DAXXIFY®, and of course, BOTOX.

What Are BOTOX, Dysport, XEOMIN, Jeuveau, and DAXXIFY?

All of these are botulinum toxin products called neuromodulators that are commonly used to smooth frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines, and other dynamic wrinkles. They are extremely popular due to their effectiveness, price point, and simplicity.

How Do Neuromodulators Work?

BOTOX and other neuromodulators work by targeting the facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. The active ingredient in these treatments prevents the nerves from sending signals to these muscles making the lines or wrinkles less noticeable.

What Areas Do BOTOX and Other Neuromodulators Treat?

We use neuromodulator injections to improve the following areas:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows
  • Lines around the lips
  • Crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes
  • Neck bands
  • Chin wrinkles

BOTOX also improves non-cosmetic concerns such as excessive sweating, migraine relief, and teeth grinding. You can combine your neuromodulator treatment with dermal fillers to add natural-looking volume and smooth creases like nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

What To Expect During Your BOTOX Treatment

Your injector will ask you to flex the muscles in the treatment area in order to mark the precise location of the injections. We use a short, fine needle and typically start by injecting a small amount of BOTOX or another neuromodulator of your choice so your results look soft and natural.

Your session should last around 15 minutes, depending on the areas treated. Depending on the neuromodulator and the person, you may able to see results as soon as 24 to 48 hours, but it’s more commonly 7 to 14 days for full results.

How Long Will My BOTOX Results Last?

Most neuromodulator results typically last around 3 to 4 months. However, DAXXIFY results may last about 6 months or more. It’s a good idea to schedule a maintenance treatment before the effects of your initial treatment wear off. Your injector will advise you on the best neuromodulator option based on your aesthetic goals.

BOTOX FAQ

Can you stop BOTOX once you start?

Yes, you can stop BOTOX treatments anytime. When you stop getting BOTOX injections, the effects gradually wear off, and your lines and wrinkles will gradually return.

What is the best age to start BOTOX?

BOTOX can benefit adults of all ages. Many people in their late 20s to early 30s start BOTOX as a preventative wrinkle treatment. It is an effective rejuvenation treatment for people in their 40s and 50s. The “best” age for BOTOX depends on your individual needs and concerns.

At what age is BOTOX no longer effective?

BOTOX can be effective at any age, but deeper wrinkles and advanced signs of aging may require additional treatments or surgical intervention.

Do BOTOX injections hurt?

BOTOX injections involve minimal discomfort—they’re often described as a small pinch. Treatment is typically quick and well-tolerated, with little to no downtime.

Can BOTOX lift hooded eyes?

Yes, BOTOX can lift mild to moderate hooded eyes by relaxing specific muscles. This allows the brow to lift, opens up the eye area, and reduces the appearance of sagging eyelids.

Can you combine other treatments like microneedling with BOTOX?

Yes, combining treatments like microneedling with BOTOX can enhance your overall results, but it’s best to consult your provider for a personalized treatment plan.
