What Are Dermal Fillers? 

Dermal fillers are injectable gels that add volume, define and shape facial features, and stimulate collagen production. The active ingredient in most fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), a molecule found in the body that retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1,000 times its weight. This plumps and hydrates the skin. 

What Do Fillers Treat? 

The versatility of fillers enables our injector to address a range of aesthetic concerns. One of the most common uses for fillers is lip augmentation. Fillers minimize wrinkles and fine lines that develop as skin loses volume. These “static” wrinkles differ from the “dynamic” expression lines treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic injections. Combining BOTOX and filler injections is common, creating comprehensive facial rejuvenation results.  

Younger patients get filler injections to contour and reshape specific facial features like the cheeks, jawline, and nose.

When hyaluronic acid fillers were introduced, the options were limited to all-purpose workhorses designed for use in multiple areas. With the development of specialized fillers, our aesthetic nurse practitioner injector, Leslie, customizes each treatment based on your concerns and cosmetic goals.  

JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC & JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC 

Lips may be naturally thin or can lose volume with age. Ultra XC and VOLBELLA add fullness to thin lips, creating a more sensual and youthful-looking mouth. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA XC has a unique formulation (VYCROSS® technology) designed to add soft volume and shape to lips while smoothing away fine lip lines. Like other products in the JUVÉDERM family of fillers, both fillers are pre-mixed with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the injections. 

JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC 

This hyaluronic acid filler is formulated with larger particles than JUVÉDERM Ultra, producing longer-lasting results. Ultra Plus XC is a soft filler that is an excellent option for treating nasolabial folds and smoothing lines at the corners of the mouth. 

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC 

VOLUMA XC is the first filler approved by the FDA to help lift and contour the cheek area. Allergan developed VOLUMA to restore lost facial volume in the cheeks, with results lasting up to 24 months.  

JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC 

VOLLURE also uses the proprietary VYCROSS technology, which produces longer-lasting results that look natural. Patients with concerns about lines and wrinkles in the lower face, such as “smile lines,” nasolabial folds, and marionette lines, are good candidates for VOLLURE injections. The results can last up to 18 months, longer than any other injectable for nasolabial folds. 

JUVÉDERM VOLUX XC 

VOLUX is the first filler approved by the FDA to add definition to the jawline. Patients noticing early signs of aging or who want to contour a more sculpted jawline than they were born with can benefit from VOLUX injections. Results typically last up to a year.  

BELOTERO BALANCE® 

Thinner than other HA fillers, we use BELOTERO BALANCE to treat tear troughs and very thin, superficial, delicate lines that develop above and around the lips. Many of our patients enjoy the results for up to 6 months, depending on the area treated. 

Restylane® Lyft 

This is an option for restoring volume to the cheek area. The FDA approves Restylane Lyft (formerly Perlane) to lift the cheeks and restore volume and smooth smile lines. 

Restylane® Kysse 

This lip filler allows for more natural lip movements and has more elasticity than alternatives. Besides augmenting the lips, Kysse minimizes fine lines that develop above the upper lip.  

Restylane® Refyne & Defyne 

These fillers are formulated to maintain flexibility so your expressions look natural. Refyne smooths and softens lines and wrinkles, such as moderate smile lines and lines around the mouth. Defyne softens deep laugh lines, such as nasolabial folds, and can be used to define the shape of the chin. 

Restylane® Contour 

Similar to JUVÉDERM VOLUMA, Restylane Contour restores volume to the cheeks. Like Refyne and Defyne, its formulation creates natural-looking results and flexible movement when changing expressions. 

Sculptra® Aesthetic 

Sculptra is one of the non-HA fillers offered at Bella Via. It is made with poly-L-lactic acid, a substance that stimulates collagen growth to minimize the visibility of smile lines, restore facial volume, and reduce wrinkles on the sides of the mouth (marionette lines) and chin wrinkles. Results appear more gradually after several treatment sessions and can last up to 2 years. 

RADIESSE® 

This filler uses calcium hydroxyapatite, best suited for filling deeper folds and boosting depleted structure and volume. Additionally, RADIESSE rejuvenates the backs of the hands, an area often overlooked by patients. Shown to last at least a year, RADIESSE contributes to increased collagen within the deeper layers of the skin, allowing for long-lasting and natural-looking results. 

RHA® Collection 

RHA hyaluronic acid fillers (RH 2, RH 3, and RH 4) are processed at lower temperatures than other fillers and contain fewer chemical modifications. This produces more stable and resilient consistencies for each filler, and dynamic facial movements such as laughing, talking, and smiling look incredibly natural.

Lip Fillers

Lip fillers are a highly popular option for enhancing lip volume and shape instantly. During these treatments, our injector carefully place fillers such as JUVÉDERM Ultra or VOLBELLA into the lips for a plump yet natural appearance. Discomfort is typically minimal because our fillers contain numbing medication. Results are immediate and usually last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the filler used. After treatment, mild swelling or bruising may occur, but these effects subside within a few days, leaving you with beautifully enhanced lips

What To Expect During Your Dermal or Lip Filler Treatment

Most dermal filler appointments take about 30 to 45 minutes, including a brief consultation to review your goals and customize your treatment plan. Your injector will apply a numbing agent for comfort and use a fine needle or cannula to carefully place the filler, restoring or adding volume, refining contours, or enhancing facial balance.

Can you feel lip fillers when kissing?

You shouldn’t feel lip fillers when kissing. When your lips are filled by an experienced injector, they remain soft and natural to the touch.

Does it hurt to get JUVÉDERM?
